KTM'S TIM FARR GRABS RUNNER-UP HONORS AT DANVILLE EDT

Eleven-time Pro ATV Champion, Tim Farr, and the hot new KTM Sport Quad competed this past weekend at the Extreme Dirt Track race in Danville, Virginia. The pairing once again was the talk of the pits as Farr was blazing fast throughout the weekend.

The Birch Creek track is a small, tight track with several banked turns. Depending upon the weather, the red clay can either be very slick or very hooked for the night Pro Show under the lights. This is one of the few tracks left on the EDT circuit that does not contain an option lane. It is a very difficult track to pass so the start is crucial.

Farr, the reigning EDT Pro Champion, was not able to defend his title in the Pro class as the KTM ATV will not be released until this fall. AMA/ATVA rules for production class racing state that the ATV must be available to the general public in order to compete. Farr did compete in the Pro-Am Unlimited class.

Farr began his night with an impressive heat race win. The other two heat races were won by Darin Ogden and Brandon Hill.

When the lights turned green for the main event, Farr spun off the line and Hill and (Zack) Stanley got the early jump. Farr quickly passed Stanley and set his sights on Hill. Within a few laps, Farr was on Hill's rear bumper and began to pressure him for the lead. Farr made numerous attempts to pass, but was forced to take the inside line which was much looser than the outside. Hill held his line and did not make any mistakes. Farr made one last drive out of the final corner before the finish line, but came up a wheel short of the win.

ATVA Extreme Dirt Track Series Round 3 Pro-Am Unlimited Results:

  • 1. Brandon Hill - Honda
  • 2. Tim Farr - KTM
  • 3. Zack Stanley - Honda
  • 4. Darin Ogden - Honda
  • 5. Trent Powell - Yamaha

The Pro-Am Unlimited class allows each rider to throw out their worst finish of the year to determine the overall Champion. Farr missed round two of the EDT Series so this will be his throw out for the year. With one throw out per rider, Farr is leading the series point race for the Championship.

The race will be televised on MavTV and www.mavtv.com. Air dates TBD.
